Preparing for your session

Set a Date

Do you have an event coming up?  Graduation, birthday, anniversary, birth, reunion, or anything else to commemorate?  When scheduling these events, don’t forget photography!  Baby coming?  Start looking at photo dates now.  (The best time to photograph infants is within the first TWO weeks.  Don’t put that off or it’s gone!).  You are welcome to start asking about dates and suggestions at any point.  Scheduling a shoot two months in advance isn’t crazy, it’s perfectly sane!

Reserve Date

Talking to me about possible dates and asking questions is great, but that date is still open until you have reserved the date.  In order to reserve the date, make a down payment of 50% of the sitting fee for your session.  As soon as I have received your payment the date is saved just for you.  In order to be able to commit full resources to your shoot I schedule sessions about a week apart, so especially during peak periods shoots can fill up quickly.   Don’t let this scare you if you ended up at the last second — ask anyway in case I can still work it out.

Select clothing

This doesn’t have to be scary!  Another page here addresses the details of “what to wear”.  And yes, making this decision early makes things much easier!  Not only does this take the pressure off of you, but it also helps me be prepared for your shoot with appropriate location/s, coordinating props as desired, etc.

Sign Contract

A detailed contract helps us both know what to expect in a shoot.  It will help you be prepared with less stress and help me know everything I need to be prepared so things can go smoothly.  This does not have to be signed in person.  We can work together to find the easiest way for this to happen. (emailing?  fax? scanning? snail mail?)

Pre-Shoot Interview

This is an opportunity for both of us to verify expectations.  You are always welcome to contact me, but this is a specific opportunity for both of us to make sure we’re on the same page.  This may happen at the same time as the contract signing.  This can happen via email, phone, or in person.

Shoot Day

This is it!  The day we get together for the arranged length of time at the arranged location.  This should be a FUN time to celebrate, not a stressful time.  Going through this process and planning ahead can help you find the joy in capturing these memories.

View Images

Within 2 weeks of your session you will receive an email with a link to your personal, private online gallery.  The email will explain how to use the gallery to view, share, order, and even save a list of favorites.

Place order

You will have 2 weeks from the time your gallery is posted to make your decisions.  All items available are professional quality.  If you choose to buy digital files print through a reputable professional printer.  Printing at the pharmacy or box store just won’t get the long lasting quality I can provide.
